National production increased 3.83% in December of 2025 and closed the year with an increase of 3.44%

During December of 2025, the national production grew 3.83%, compared to the same month of the year 2024, before the positive evolution of the majority of economic sectors, among those that outstood were: Construction; Other Services; Commerce and Manufacturing; followed by Services Provided to Companies; Services of Government; Transportation, Storage and Courier; Accommodation and Restaurants; Agribusiness; Electricity, Gas and Water; and Fishing. On the other hand, showed a contractive behavior the following sectors: Mining and Hydrocarbons, Telecommunications and Financing.


According the technical report of National Production, prepared by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI), during the year 2025 the economy of the country increased by 3.44%.


Agribusiness sector increased by 2.48%
During the last month of the year 2025, the Agribusiness sector increased 2.48%, compared to the same month of the last year, due to the positive result of the agriculture (2.63%) and livestock (2.25%).


This positive performance answered to the greater volumes of production of grape (6.7%), oil palm (45.1%), potato (8.9%), onion (55.4%), paddy rice (4.4%), sugar cane (12.4%) and hard yellow corn (10.4%); due to the greater levels of area harvested of the main agriculture products and positively influenced by weather factors. Among the livestock products that outstood were poultry (2.4%), fresh milk (4.4%), swine (3.1%) and eggs (0.8%).


Fishing sector registered a positive variation of 0.59%
During December of 2025, the Fishing sector grew 0.59%, compared to the same month of the year 2024, due to the positive performance of fishing of continental origin in 13.00%, meanwhile that the fishing of maritime origin decreased 0.05%, due to the lower landing of anchovy intended to indirect human consumption (for fishmeal and fish oil), with a total capture of 703,034 tons that, against the 925,480 tons extracted in December 2024, meant a reduction of 24.04%, due to the lower fishing registered in the north-center area of the coastline.


On the other hand, the landing for direct human consumption grew 63.41%, in three of its four destinations: for frozen (166.6%), preparation of canning (32.2%) and for consumption in fresh state (4.7%), but it reduced for curing (-37.5%).


Mining and Hydrocarbons sector decreased 2.18%
During the month under analysis, Mining and Hydrocarbons sector reduced 2.18%, due to the negative result of the metal-mining (-1,87%) and hydrocarbons (-4.39%) subsectors. Mining subsector registered a lower extraction of molybdenum (-19.1%), cooper (-2.7%), gold (-3.2%) and silver (-2.7%); nevertheless, the production of zinc (17.2%), iron (14.0%), tin (22.1%) and lead (1.5%) grew.


Hydrocarbon’s subsector contracted as a result of the lower volume of exploitation of crude oil (-16.0%) and liquids of natural gas (-6.3%). Meanwhile, the production of natural gas increased (9.6%).


Manufacturing sector increased by 4.58%
During December of 2025, Manufacturing sector increased by 4.58%, compared to the same month of the year 2024, determined by the positive behavior of the non-primary manufacturing (6.03%) and primary manufacturing (1.26%) subsectors.
Growth of the non-primary manufacturing subsector was explained by the dynamism of the industry of capital goods (87.99%) and intermediate goods (3.97%), but it was affected by the lower production of the industry of consumption goods (-2.03%).


In the positive performance of the primary manufacturing subsector influenced the greater fabrication of products of crude oil refining (7.8%), production of the primary product of precious metals and other non-ferrous metals (2.5%), as well as the processing and conservation of meat (2.2%). On the other hand, the level of activity of the branches processing and preserving of fish, crustaceous and molluscs (-2.5%) and sugar processing (-0.02%) decreased.


Electricity, Gas and Water sector increased by 2.65%
During the last month of the year 2025, Electricity, Gas and Water sector increased by 2.65%, due to favorable result of its components: electricity (2.88%), gas distribution (2.76%) and potable water production (0.93%).


In electricity subsector increased the production of thermoelectric origin energy by 58.54% and non-conventional renewable origin energy (wind-solar) by 27.11%; nevertheless, hydroelectric origin energy decreased by 26.05%. In the increase of the gas subsector affected the greater demand of electric generators (3.5%) and of establishments that sell natural gas vehicle-NGV (0.8%).


Regarding the result of water subsector, the companies Agua Tumbes (16.8%), EPS Grau (10.9%) and Sedapar (4.7%) contributed with the greater volume of production; meanwhile, the water production of the following companies: Sedapal (-0.1%), Epss Selva Central (-6.7%), Eps Sedaloreto (-9.9%), among the main ones, reduced.


Production of Construction sector grew by 12.01%
Construction sector increased by 12.01% in December of 2025, compared to the same month of the year 2024, reflected in the increase of the domestic cement consumption (18.05%) and the physical progress of public works (7.02%).


The growth of domestic cement consumption was linked to the progress of private works such as reconstruction and refurbishment works in buildings and stores. In addition, the continued the construction of housing projects of social, real state interest, among others. The physical progress of public works grew in the Local Government, counterbalanced by the decrease in the National and Regional areas.


By type of work, the execution of road infrastructure and basic services outstood. On the other hand, the investment in works of risk prevention and in construction of non-residential buildings was affected.


Commerce sector registered an increase of 4.89%
During December of 2025, the Commerce sector grew 4.89%, compared to the same month of the last year, driven by the wholesale trade (4.56%), reflected in the commercialization of natural, veterinary products information security equipment, fertilizers and plastic articles for the household. The sale of fuel increased due to dynamism of the commerce; transportation and mining sectors; computers, peripheral equipment and software; as well as by tenders and renovation of equipment of high-performance equipment; metals and metal ores favored by the rise of the copper, gold and silver increased its demand as financial refugee.


The retail trade increased 4.65%, due to the solid performance of the sale in department stores that adopted strategies of discounts in physical and digital channels; fuel for automotive vehicles in gas stations and self- service stations, in a context of new clients and greater seasonal influx; computers and peripheral equipment driven by events such as the “Cyber Monday”; and supermarket and minimarkets, due to greater rotation of foods and beverages by Christmas campaign and end of the year parties.


The automotive increased by 8.83%, driven by the greater liquidity of consumers before the release of AFP and CTS funds, as well as the distribution of profits and credit facilities, supported in events such as the “Toyotathon 2025”, “Wigo Christmas Fest edition 2025” and “First Andes Fair”. In addition, it influenced the sale and repair of motorcycles, parts and accessories, before the greater offer of models in the market, strengthen by the “Motorcyclist Day”.


Production of Transportation, Storage and Courier sector positively varied by 3.78%
During the last month of the year 2025, the Transportation, Storage and Courier sector grew 3.78%, compared to December of 2024, due to the greater activity of transportation (4.00%), as well as storage and courier (3.19%) subsectors.


Transportation subsector grew 4.00%, in response to the demand of transportation by road and pipping transportation (3.18%), due to road travel by 3.33%, of passengers (4.8%) and load (1.1%). Likewise, the transportation by pipping registered a growth of 1.28%, associated to the greater production of natural gas. On the other hand, the rail transportation decreased 9.33%, before the lower movement of load and passengers.


Transportation by air increased 6.17%, before the increase in the load and passengers’ movement at national and international level. On the other hand, the transportation by waterway varied 7.18%, due to the greater transportation of load by waterway varied 7.18%, due to the greater transportation of load by waterway by 17.60%; meanwhile the river transportation decreased 3.05% due to the lower displacement of passengers.


On the other hand, the storage and courier subsector increased by 3.19%, associated to the storage services and support activities to the transportation (3.2%), as well as postal and courier services (2.6%).


Accommodation and Restaurants sector increased by 4.28%
During December of 2025, Accommodation and Restaurants sector increased by 4.28%, based in the expansion of restaurants (4.22%) and accommodation (4.85%) subsectors.


The favorable performance of the restaurant’s subsector was linked to the activities of restaurants (3.61%), food services for transportation and concessionaries companies (5.28%) and beverage service (8.63%); on the other hand, it decreased the activity of catering foodservice (-13.28%). In the group of restaurants, positively contributed the sectors of sandwich restaurants, international food, meat and grills, grilled chicken, fast foods, restaurants, among others. At the same time, it contributed to the evolution of the sector, different celebrations such as Christmas, New Year, Peruvian Grill Day and Cyber Monday. In addition, it positively contributed the performance of gastronomic fairs and long holidays.


Financing and Insurance sector registered an unfavorable behavior
During December of 2025, the production index of the Financing and Insurance sector decreased by 0.20%, compared to December of 2024, explained by the reduction of credits of financial companies (-42.2%), as well as deposits of financial companies (-40.5%) and entities of public sector (-2.0%).


Regarding Multiple Banking, credits and deposits in foreign currency decreased in -1.5% and -5.4%, respectively. Regarding the credits, the decrease was due to corporative credits, to big, medium, small and micro-enterprises (-0.9%) and mortgage credits (-17.3%); meanwhile that regarding the deposits, it influenced the lower placement of fixed-term deposits (-19.3%) and deposits of time service compensation (-10.7%).


Production of Telecommunications and Other Services of Information sector decreased 0.98%
During December of 2025, Telecommunications and Other Services of Information sector contracted by 0.98%, due to the result of the telecommunications subsector (-1.64%); nevertheless, other services of information subsector registered a growth (2.60%).


The downwards behavior of telecommunications subsector was explained by the lower activity of telephone services (-6.5%); on the other hand, it grew Internet services and paid TV (4.9%) and data transmission services (1.3%). On the other hand, in the growth of other services of information contributed the greater production and exhibition of films and TV programs (9.5%), computer programming (2.6%) and edition (1.5%); in contrast to the lower TV and radio programming (-0.4%).


Service Provided to Companies increased by 3.46%
During December of 2025, Service Provided to Companies increased 3.46%, driven by advertising and market research (5.3%), travel agencies and tour operators (4.9%), activities of administrative and support services (4.3%) and professional, scientific and technical activities (2.8%).


Government services increased by 4.34%
During the month under analysis, Government Services grew 4.34%, due to greater activities performed by institutions of Public Administration (4.3%), Defense (4.7%) and Other Government Services (1.4%).
